What is SNQ?
SNQ stands for “Symbol of National Quality”, a trusted certification developed in Taiwan to represent Safety and Quality.
It’s one of the first certification systems in Asia to evaluate the safety and nutritional standards of pet functional food and supplements. Simply put, it’s a mark that pet parents can count on.
How is Pet Food Quality Measured?
Not all pet food is created equal. The SNQ symbol is awarded only after a product passes strict evaluations in four key areas:
- Quality Control
- Safety & Hygiene
- Ingredient Functionality
- Nutritional Value
To be certified, a product must undergo comprehensive lab testing, including:
- Aflatoxin screening
- Microbial and heavy metal checks
- Pesticide residue testing
- Preservative and antioxidant analysis
- Melamine detection
In addition, manufacturers must provide:
- Scientific studies supporting the product’s formula
- Documentation for all raw ingredient sources
- HACCP and ISO certifications for their production facilities
Who Does the Reviewing?
All SNQ applications are reviewed by a panel of industry experts—ranging from veterinarians, animal nutrition professors, and representatives from Taiwan’s Council of Agriculture and Ministry of Science and Technology. This ensures an independent, science-based evaluation for every approved product.
Why Should You Care?
Products that carry the SNQ mark meet near-human food safety standards, offering a level of trust that’s rarely seen in the pet industry. When you choose pet food with the SNQ certification, you’re not just picking any brand—you’re choosing transparent, science-backed nutrition that’s made with your pet’s long-term health in mind.
